Proteomics is a fast and powerful discipline aimed at the study of the whole proteome or the sum of all proteins from an organism, tissue, cell or biofluid, or a subfraction thereof, resulting in an information-rich landscape of expressed proteins and their modulations under specific conditions. Proteins are much more complex and molecularly diverse than are DNA and RNA, especially between cell types, and therefore present a greater challenge to study. MCGD faculty that participate in the large scale and systematic study of protein structures and functions focus on a diversity of biological problems in prokaryotic and eukaryotic systems. In depolarized cells overexpressing PINK1 (∼15-fold by TMT proteomics), we observed an increase in pS65-Ub stoichiometry on purified mitochondria to 0.65, and the stoichiometry of phosphorylation was only slightly reduced (0.55) in the context of C341S or S65A PARKIN, despite the absence of PARKIN-dependent chain assembly (Figures 7A, 7B, and 7D). Proteomics studies of NSCs have the potential to delineate molecules and pathways critical for NSC biology and the means by which NSCs can participate in neural repair. In this review, we provide a background to NSC biology, including the means to obtain them and the caveats to these processes. Quantitative proteomics is a powerful approach used for both discovery and targeted proteomic analyses to understand global proteomic dynamics in a cell, tissue, or organism.

Abstract. The molecular responses of macrophages to copper-based nanoparticles have been investigated via a combination of proteomic and biochemical approaches, using the RAW264.7 cell line as a model. Both metallic copper and copper oxide nanoparticles have been tested, with copper ion and zirconium oxide nanoparticles used as controls.
